Katsuya hadn't really intended to take up all of Verity's day, so he's slightly surprised that the sun is hanging low in the sky as they continue back toward Konan. She's clearly pleased though, so he doesn't feel too guilty about it.
"Ah! I've always wanted to go to the Empire State building. I never managed to the last time I wa sin New York." Luckily enough time has passed in Katsuya's world that certain other landmarks that are no longer in New York are politely left out. Did that happen in Verity's world? Best not to ask.
